End of the Year Party!

Today we had a blast at the pool and park for our end of the year party!

Awards Program

Last Wednesday was an exciting day for our first graders. It was their awards program day and the day that they were official promoted to second grade! It was bitter sweet for me. I am so proud of them for working so hard this year. We have had the best year together, which makes it hard to say good-bye! Here are a few pictures from the program.

We totally ROCKED today at Track and Field Day! And it was just so much fun! I had the best time watching the kids cheer each other on. They tried so hard today and did their absolute best. I was one proud teacher!!!

Track and Field Day = Success

Field Trip to the Airport and Antique Rose Emporium

Yesterday we had a blast on our field trip to the Airport and Antique Rose Emporium! At the Airport Mr. Butler talked to the kids about airplanes.Then, he let the kids get inside a few of the planes. They had so much fun!

After we explored the planes, we ate lunch. Then, Dr. Stoltenburg flew his plane for us. He did all sorts of tricks. It was awesome!

Next, we visited the Rose Emporium. Yes, it was hot! The kids went on a scavenger hunt while we were there. They searched for all sorts of things, including retiles, our state bird, amphibians, particular plants, etc. For as hot and dry as it has been you couldn't tell by looking at the flowers. They were in full bloom and were absolutely beautiful!

A Busy Week Ahead

Monday, May 9 - Field trip to the Airport and Antique Rose Emporium
Students are to wear their class shirts and bring a sack lunch.

Tuesday, May 10 - Track and Field Day 8:30-10:30
Students need to wear their class shirts. They also may bring a towel to sit on and a water bottle.

Wednesday, May 11 - Talent Show Tryouts

Thursday, May 12 - Fitness Walk Swim Party 12:00-2:00
Students will eat lunch at school. They will need to wear their swimsuit and bring a towel. (More info will be sent home)

Friday, May 13 - Open as of right now. = )

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy, Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful Moms! You all do such a great job with your children, and I truly appreciate your help and support. I am hoping that by now all of my fabulous firsties have given you their Mother's Day gift because I would hate to ruin the suprise with this post.

Last week we worked hard creating these super, cute cookbooks! I have enjoyed reading all of the yummy recipes this weekend and can't wait to try them!

We also had a blast making our Mother's Day cards. The kids loved dressing up like "old people!"

Catching Up!

It has been over a week since I last posted.....Yikes......Time is flying by! Last week we made our Mother's Day suprises and worked really hard on our animal books. Take a look.

I love reading these when they are all finished! The creative pictures and writing always make me smile!
